Akiza's Black Rose Dragon is one of the most popular Synchro Monsters from the Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's era. Its destructive power is unmatched by that of any other Synchro Monster, and its synergy with Plant-type monsters allows Duelists to snatch a victory from the jaws of defeat.

Black Rose Dragon is a Level 7 Synchro Monster that can be Synchro Summoned by combining any Tuner with one or more non-Tuners. That makes it easy to Summon in just about any Deck that uses a Tuner monster.

Debris Dragon has been one of the most popular Tuner Monsters used to Synchro Summon Black Rose Dragon in recent years. When you Normal Summon the Level 4 Debris Dragon, you can Special Summon a monster from your Graveyard with 500 or less ATK. Special Summon a Level 3 monster with low ATK, like Dandylion, Lonefire Blossom,or Card Trooper, and you'll be all set to tune your two monsters together and Synchro Summon Black Rose Dragon!

Masked Chameleon is similar to Debris Dragon. When you Normal Summon Masked Chameleon, which is a Level 4 Tuner just like Debris Dragon, you can use its effect to Special Summon a monster from your Graveyard with 0 DEF. Special Summon a Level 3 non-Tuner with 0 DEF, like Exploder Dragon or T.G. Warwolf, to quickly Synchro Summon Black Rose Dragon.

When you Synchro Summon Black Rose Dragon, you can use its effect to destroy everything on the field. No Spells, Traps, or monsters – including Black Rose Dragon – can survive Black Rose Dragon's effect. Black Rose Dragon handles just about anything your opponent throws at you. That's why it's such a popular choice in Extra Decks.

But Black Rose Dragon shines best in Decks that include Plant-Type monsters. When you Synchro Summon Black Rose Dragon, you get to choose whether or not you want to use its effect to destroy all cards on the field. If you decide not to activate its effect, you'll get to keep Black Rose Dragon and potentially use its 2nd ability.

Black Rose Dragon's 2400 ATK is about average for a Level 7 Synchro Monster, but its extra effect can be a Duel-changer in situations where wiping the field is unfavorable. By banishing a Plant from your Graveyard, you can activate Black Rose Dragon's effect to switch an opponent's Defense Position monster into Attack Position and reduce that monster's ATK to 0! Popular plants that you can banish from your Graveyard to activate Black Rose Dragon's effect include Dandylion, Lonefire Blossom, Glow-Up Bulb, Traptrix Dionaea, and the Sylvan monsters.

Banishing a Plant from your Graveyard to activate Black Rose Dragon's effect will not only eliminate one of your opponent's defenses, but it will also create a weak point on your opponent's field. It forces your opponent to sit behind an Attack Position monster with 0 ATK.

A lot of people forget about that second effect of Black Rose Dragon, but a successful attack from Black Rose or another of your powerful monsters against your opponent's 0 ATK monster will wipe out a big chunk of your opponent's Life Points. Late in a Duel, an attack like that can easily deal enough damage to knock your opponent right out of the Duel!

Black Rose Dragon is a fan-favorite card that was first and last released in 2008 and hasn't been available since. Its age has made it tough for some Duelists to find in recent years. On October 24th, you'll be able to get your hands on an Ultra Rare Black Rose Dragon in every Legendary Collection 5D's!
